Smart has just announced the #6, its first sedan and the largest car ever released by the brand.

Official images of the new vehicle were shared on the Smart page on Weibo, a Chinese social network. Among the information already available, its dimensions stand out.

It measures 4906 millimeters in length, the same as a BMW 7 Series E32 and roughly the equivalent of two first-generation urban ForTwo cars. With this, it takes the title from the #5 2024 as the largest car in Smart’s portfolio.

Like the #5, which was launched as the manufacturer’s first plug-in hybrid, the new Smart sedan also combines a combustion engine with an electric motor, providing a combined range of 1,810 kilometers and 429 horsepower.

Without using the 1.5-liter combustion engine, the car can travel 285 kilometers on a single charge. As a plug-in hybrid, the company claims that the Smart #6 consumes just 3.9 liters of fuel per 100 km.

Among the new features, the #6 includes an active rear spoiler and a LiDAR sensor mounted on the roof, showing how much the company has changed since becoming a joint-venture equally divided between Geely and Mercedes-Benz.

So far, Smart has not released images of the vehicle’s interior, but it is expected that the dashboard will be filled with screens, a feature present in almost all modern cars and apparently much appreciated by Chinese consumers.

The #6 will go on sale in China next year and will likely remain a local product. Meanwhile, in Europe, Smart is working on reviving the spirit of the ForTwo with the upcoming #2.
